Help DPAC make Operation Tory Dump a success. Communist Party writes to local officers and organisers to help organise campaigning against cuts to support benefits scheme.

What's it all about?

Disabled People Against the Cuts (DPAC) launched a campaign on the 2nd March after the Government forced through the £30 cut to Employment Support Allowance-Disabled Work Related Activity Group (ESA WRAG). This campaign cleverly focuses on pressurising and calling on the disability charities that have any MP's that voted for the cut as a Trustee/Patron/President.

This started seeing real results by the with:

Andover MS Society asked thier patron Kit Malthouse to step down.
Advocacy for All released a statement asking Tory MP James Cleverly to resign as Patron
Amber Rudd resigned as Vice President of Snowden Trust
Then on 17th March Richmond Aid Forced Zac Goldsmith to resign as a Paton. The following day Ian Ducan Smith's (IDS) resignation showed the power of campaigning. However his replacement by Stephen Crabb as DWP Minister reaffirms the CP EC's belief that IDS resignation changes nothing for the campaign. While Tory MPs use disability charities for cover while voting to harm disabled people we must keep targeting them.

What Can I Do?

DPAC are constantly updating and editing the list Click here to go to the DPAC site and see the current situation. This is the list of MP's who hold positions within disability charities, and how you can contact the charities.

If you know of MPs who voted for the ESA Cut with roles in disability charities then let DEPAC know by leaving a comment at the bottom of the page.
You can contact the charities (make sure to keep it polite) ask them if you feel that XYZ MP is a fit and proper person to be a Trustee/Patron/President of their charity given that MP has just voted to cut ESA payments to disabled people. Explaining to them that they should not allow the MP concerned to represent their organisation given that the people the charities represent will be dramatically worse off as a result.
There is an Operation ToryDump Tweetlist that you can use to lobby charities on Twitter (you must have/creat a twitter accout) Click here to see the tweet list and assit in lobbying the relevant charities.
Pass on this information to your contacts and get them onboard with the campaign.
