Britain’s communists have reaffirmed the party’s long-standing commitment to the liberation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, pledging to campaign for full equality in all aspects of life.

In the lead-up to LGBT history month, the executive committee noted the positive developments in the world communist movement that show a greater understanding of the importance of their struggle.

They highlighted Cuba’s celebration of the International Day of Action on Homophobia and legalising same-sex unions in countries such as Chile with the support of the country’s Communist Party.

The Communist Party of Britain said: “We will continue to campaign for full equality and against discrimination in all aspects of life including employment, for full legal recognition of same-sex partnerships and against discrimination in inheritance rights, childcare and adoption rights.”
