Joint Communist Party & CPI statement on EU elections

The communist parties of Britain (CPB) and Ireland (CPI), recognising the different situations they struggle within and the forces at play during the course the EU elections, have discussed the solidarity that exists between the parties on the question of nature of the European Union and the consequences of continued membership. In particular the CPI sends solidarity to all those in Britain who, over the weekend of 18-19th May and in the run up to election day on 23rd May, are participating in the Boycott campaign.

Communists warn of war danger

Britain's Communists have sounded the alarm about the 'rapidly escalating danger of war' in the Middle East and Latin America.

Addressing the Communist Party's political committee on Wednesday evening, Liz Payne said all the signs pointed to a military conflagration provoked by the US regime in alliance with Saudi Arabia, Israel and Britain.

Communists call for "People's Boycott" of EU polls

"The European elections scheduled for May 23 are illegitimate in Britain", John Foster told the Communist Party's political committee on Wednesday evening.

He insisted that the "people's vote" in the biggest poll in British history in June 2016 was to leave the European Union and that this should be reinforced by a "People's Boycott" of the EU elections if they go ahead.

Communist response to EU heads of government meeting

Responding today (March 22) to the EU heads of government meeting and statement on Britain's relationship with the EU, Communist Party general secretary Robert Griffiths said:

'Thursday evening’s circus in Brussels has left parliamentary democracy in a precarious state, with the governments of Germany and France telling us when we can leave and on what terms. EU Commissioners are even instructing MPs as to how they should vote next week.
